Stealing Home (1988)

Stealing Home (1988)

Ca: 3/5, 7/10

Carolyn’s thoughts: I watched this without Clint. My mom has been telling me to see this movie for a few years now, and she wanted me to see it so bad that she gave it to me for my birthday. So I decided to watch it one day while Clint was at work. There were a lot of slow parts where it was just music or not much going on. I watched those parts on the fast speed or skipped through them. It was pretty good, though, but it was sad. My mom kept telling me it isn’t a baseball movie. She said people mistake it for a baseball movie based on the title and how it opens up with a baseball game, but it’s not about baseball. It’s more about coping with life, dealing with loss, finding yourself and doing what you love. It was definitely not Clint’s cup of tea since it wasn’t a comedy, but there were funny parts. I was cracking up at the scene with Appleby’s parents and the sex scene with Robin’s mom just walking through the room but being so oblivious to them getting it on right there in the living room. That was good stuff. I didn’t realize Harold Ramis was in this, and he had just died pretty recently, so it was nice to see one of his movies that I hadn’t seen before. “You had sex with my prom date!”
